My tidying journey

The beginning

I have always been an organised person, but in my late 20’s, I was leading a busy, stressful life. I was drowning in my cluttered room, with countless unread books, unused skincare products, clothes that I never wore and random items in my home. When I look back at that time, I was neglecting myself and could never work out why I was exhausted day after day.

Moving overseas

I then had opportunities to go overseas (Europe, Asia and South East Asia) for my work, both short-term and long-term. These opportunities forced me to pack and unpack what I loved and needed to take with me. When I settled back in Sydney, I went on a path to become a minimalist. I tried to live with as few items as possible but I became too obsessed with discarding items.

Tidying up with Marie Kondo

In 2020 during one of the COVID lockdowns in Sydney, I watched the Netflix show, Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, and was immediately hooked. I realised why I was never satisfied with being a minimalist. I was focusing too much on items to discard, and not on items that I loved! It finally clicked inside me and I was finally at peace with my items in my own home. I realised that I could become a tidying expert as a professional and help people tidy up their home.
